FAUST BIO:

Much like his mythological philosopher-magician namesake, DJ Faust is ahead of the learning curve. In 1998, Faust made history with the release of the first full-length, all-scratching album in history, the critically lauded Man Or Myth. This was followed by a joint EP release alongside Shortee & Craze entitled The Fathomless EP, the first musical release containing Drum & Bass tracks comprised solely of scratching.
In 1999, Faust released his second full- length Inward Journeys, showcasing his original beat making skills even more while still incorporating the turntablist trickery he was known for. He has since released multiple joint albums with DJ Shortee (Digital Soul & Satisfaction Guaranteed), singles, remixes, countless mix cds & appeared on numerous compilations ("Urban Revolutions", "Return of the DJ 3", "Revenge of the B-Boy", Ubisoft’s "XIII Soundtrack", "Scratch Movie Soundtrack", "Tino Breaks Vol 1 & 2", "Bomb Anniversary Collection 1991-2001", "Deep Concentration 3", "Contents Under Pressure", etc…)
His productions have attracted licensing features that have aired worldwide on networks such as MTV, NBC, CNN & ESPN with features like the X-Games, Tony Hawk’s Skate Park Tour, Hip-Hop Nation, Headline News & the esteemed World Cup 2002. The duo's song "Drumcircle" (Digital Soul) is the official theme song for "MTV SPORTS UNLIMITED AXXESS" & his visionary skills as a DJ & Producer have earned him rave reviews in publications such as Spin, Urb, Rolling Stone, NY Times, Washington Post, DJ Times, Remix, XLR8R, Venus, Vice, etc. as well as ranking as of one of the top 5 turntablists in the world by Spin Magazine.
Faust's contributions to Scratching, Beat Juggling and party rockin' earned him a spot in Doug Prays' award winning documentary SCRATCH (Palm Pictures) seen in theatres across the globe as well as networks HBO, VH1, Cinemax, Showtime, Sundance, Independent Film Channel & more. Faust has made media appearances on TV shows such as NBC's National TV Show "Hip Hop Nation", CNN's "Headline News" & throughout the friendly skies on CNN Inflight's "Showbiz This Month".
Faust is also a special guest in Shortee's DJ instructional video/DVD series, "Shortee's DJ 101" (2000/2002) and "Shortee's DJ 202" (2005). A majority of the soundtrack in both DVDs are comprised of Faust & Shortee's original music. In addition to the success of the DVD series, Faust teaches at The Scratch DJ Academy founded by RUN DMC's Jam Master Jay. Both Faust & Shortee are currently teaching courses at the Los Angeles Scratch DJ Academy. They are also DJ/Remixing instructors at Grammy Camp, a 2 week intensive camp put on by the Grammy Foundation every year.
Faust & Shortee have still managed to drop numerous mix CDs & mix tapes including the "Urban Assault" series (Drum & Bass) "Hip Hip Mega Mix" series (Hip Hop/Breaks/Funk/Soul) , "Methods of Motion" & "Dream Theory" series (House) & their Final Scratch mix "The XIII Soundtrack" for Ubi Soft's video game "XIII" which features original tracks by the Future Primitive Sound Collective. Faust has also collaborated with fellow Citizenz crewmember, DJ Enki, and together they recently released "Cause & Effect" (Hip Hop, Funk, Soul & Rare Breaks).
Faust’s mix is seamless whether he appears solo or part of a group & is well-known for his one-of-a-kind 4-turntable transmissions alongside his wife DJ Shortee. Together they’ve toured the world displaying their unique chemistry, bangin heavy beats as one. In 2000 the duo joined forces with jungle phenomena Danny the Wildchild to create a whole new monster of rhythm: The Bomb Tour - three world-class DJs; six turntables; the best in hip-hop, breaks, and drum n’ bass; plenty of scratching; and a show that left dance-happy kids nationwide begging for more. Today, with decades of experience in multiple genres Faust continues to rock parties as one of the most versatile DJs in the business.
In 2007, alongside partner Shortee, they launched their first labels, Heavy Artillery Recordings and 5 Star Records. The labels will concentrate on heavy beats from Hip Hop/Battle tools, Breaks, and Drum & Bass. Their first release, Shortee & Step 1’s “BIKINI WAX”(5 Star Records), has become an instant classic and there’s so much more yet to come!
Faust has shared the stage with high profile talent like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Method Man, Krs-One, Dilated Peoples, The X-ecutioners, Q-Bert, Craze, Z Trip and many, many others. He also performs regularly at The NAMM Show and The Remix Hotel. His sponsors include Tribal Gear, Rane, Shure, & Cakewalk.
A veteran globetrotter, Faust has rocked nightclubs, special events, & concerts across the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Korea, Italy, UK, & Holland spinning many styles scratched and mixed to genius proportions.

in an album format ever!”
XLR8R MAGAZINE
"“In Faust’s hands, turntablism is as breakneck
virtuosic as bebop, as bereft of melody as modern classical – but way
to committed to putting the boogie in your butt for the curatorial staff
to start sniffin’ around.” SPIN MAGAZINE
“Faust, able to adapt turntables as a musical instrument, creates
a dimension of sound and imagination that teleports the listener into
a surreal world of music.” MUZIK MAGAZINE

"Painstakingly edits together zillions of Proustian hip-hop moments
with turntables... The results are juicy but fat-free Steinski-style
scratch boogie symphonies....Along with mate DJ Shortee, Faust is one

maker.” SPIN MAGAZINE
“Faust’s scratches, juggles, and even skipping records coalesce
into one giant itchy symphony with movement after movement of next-level
